Travel to Berwang for the BHMC via Trittenheim, Germany

For those who decide to travel to Berwang by car, why not stop off on the outward and/or return journey(s) at Trittenheim, a village on the Mosel River in Germany?  Over the past few years, several course members have, each year, met up at Trittenheim before and/or after attending the course.  During this time, we have established a very good relationship with Christel and Richard Schmitt, who have their own vineyards and produce their own wine in this lovely little village.  The Schmitts can provide accommodation either in their own pension or will organise some nearby.

There are good walks through the vineyards; good restaurants; and good  wine – with the opportunity to taste various varieties.  For some regular visitors, it is a 'tradition' to walk up to the small church (pictured, right) and gaze down the sloping vineyards to the river beyond before strolling back to the village for dinner.  In fact, this is a very pleasant way to relax in the middle of the journey and ease yourself into 'holiday mode'.  To be able to stock up with wine from the local vineyards at a very reasonable cost is an extra bonus.
