Castles, such as those at Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Hohenschwangau:
Neuschwanstein castle - built 1869-86,
its location and interior decorations make it unique in the world. It was the last home of the legendary King Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845-86) and is situated above the roaring Pöllat Gorge, 4 km from Füssen;

Not so well known is the castle Hohenschwangau. The original 19th century Biedermeier furnishings and the Swan Lake Park make for an interesting visit; and
Linderhof is another of King Ludwig II's palaces and is considered by many to
be his finest. This castle is surrounded by statues, fountains, a stepped waterfall, and temples. The Hall of Mirrors, the Palace Park with its Moorish Kiosk and Peacocks Throne plus the artificial grotto complete with wave machine make this well worth a visit. There are regular, guided tours of the castle.
